Al's Story

"Volunteering for Citizens Advice was something I thought about doing after using the service in 1996, but it was only after taking early retirement in 2009 that I was able to do so.

I have worked in offices for the best part of 46 years and needed the motivation for rising reasonably early at least two days a week, and as I get a great deal of satisfaction from helping other people, joining the bureau was the obvious choice.

My work as an accountant in industry meant I have experience in the areas of employment, debt and negotiating, that has proved very useful. Add to that the excellent training and support given by the bureau in the other advice areas means that it is a pleasure to work here.

I would recommend it to anyone who likes working with people."
