Adding up Campaign
![]()
In 2009 Citizen Advice launched its ‘Adding Up’ Campaign after nationally seeing many parents and carers struggling with the hidden costs of sending their children to school.
Here at Coventry Citizen Advice we ran a survey in the Summer of 2009 to see if this was also a problem in Coventry. Our findings echoed those found nationally and a report was produced with recommendations for schools and the local authority to help make schools accessible for all in terms of costs of school trips and budgeting for them and school uniform costs.
So now in the third year of our campaign in looking at the hidden cost of education in Coventry, we have ran a larger second survey for parents and carers and produced an interim report. We have also carried out a survey for schools to get their feedback and have produced a final report. Our full report is now available.
Justice for all

We are campaigning for free legal advice - because your rights matter.
Citizens Advice is playing a leading role in Justice for All, the campaign to ensure everyone is treated fairly under the law, no matter who they are, how much money they have or where they live.
Free, independent advice and representation on legal matters is essential to achieve justice for all.
Many people will be cut off from the help they need as multiple funding streams to CAB, Law Centres and other independent advice agencies are being cut at the same time. Over half a million people will lose out on advice through cuts to legal aid alone, and local authority support is also under threat in many areas.

Not a British National..

Migration of Incapacity Benefit to Employment Support Allowance
After February 2011 existing incapacity benefits claimants in Coventry and the UK (those on incapacity benefit, severe disablement allowance and income support on disability grounds) will be reassessed under the employment and support allowance (ESA) Work Capability Assessment (WCA) instead of the Personal Capability Assessment. ESA is replacing all of these other benefits for people who are sick or disabled. You will receive a letter from the DWP to inform you of this
Benefit Sanctions
Have you received a benefit sanction but not a letter from the DWP to explain this till your money had been stopped? Did the letter explain fully why you had been sanctioned? Did the length of the sanction seem unreasonable? Please seek independent advice if you have experienced this or tell us your story
Tell us your story if you have experienced any problems with the above issues or any other problems
