Volunteering FAQ's


 

  • I would like to volunteer. What types of volunteer work can I do at Coventry CAB?

    We currently offer 4 different types of voluntary work:

    Admin Volunteers - General office duties and correspondence tasks
    Information Assistants - Assisting with information queries during our Gateway Assessment process
    Reception Assistants - Providing assistance at the bureau's front desk
    Generalist Advisers - Training for, and then providing advice and information to members of the public on a range
                                         of different issues

 

  • How much time would I have to give?

    Admin Volunteers - Usually 1 or 2 days per week (hours negotiable) depending on workload volumes
    Information Assistants - 1 session (half a day) per week
    Generalist Advisers - 2 sessions per week (10 hours approx)

 

  • Do I need any qualifications to volunteer?

    There are no specific qualifications necessary to volunteer, however your suitability for individual roles will be assessed from your previous experiences and skills. All volunteer applicants will go through an interview and assessment process.

 

  • Can I claim expenses for things such as travelling, parking, childcare, etc?

    Yes. We will reimburse reasonable fees incurred whilst you are volunteering at Coventry CAB.

 

  • Is there an age limit?

    The minimum age for volunteers is 16. There is no maximum age.

 

  • Will volunteering affect my benefits?

    No, provided you keep within the conditions of the benefit you are claiming. As the work you are doing will be voluntary, we will only reimburse reasonable expenses incurred by you.
