The Immigration Advisory Service (IAS) is the UK’s largest charity providing representation and advice in immigration and asylum law. These services are free to people who are eligible. They also offer a fee-paying (non-profit) service. The IAS are independent from the Government and their asylum and immigration advice is provided confidentially. Coventry Refugee Centre provides essential information and practical help to thousands of refugees and asylum seekers in the Coventry area. Many of the clients only have a limited command of English so the centre offers help with dealing with the appropriate agencies, organisations and service providers.The work of the cenre falls into two main categories; firstly, help for asylum seekers in the many problems they face with substinence, housing, health, racial harassment, and secondly, help to set up home for those given leave to remain.
