Volunteers
We need more Generalist Advice Volunteers!
We need them because we want to extend our existing team of volunteers. They presently work alongside our caseworker team to provide our advice service.
We offer training that leads to the Generalist Certificate in Advice work; this in turn will equip you not only for CAB work, but also for employment in the wider field of advice provision.
The training involves:-
- A 19 week course. During this time a tutor guides your learning and your colleagues support you.
-
Observing interviews and shadowing Bureau workers.
-
Studying 19 Training Packs.
-
Completing 4 training manuals that validate learning.
-
Conducting observed and supported client interviews.
When you have completed your final assessed interview, you are awarded the certificate and join the existing volunteers on the rota. We then ask you to give us 12 hours each week. This can be spread over Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday during our core hours of 9.30a.m. to 3.30p.m. Thursdays are reserved for on-going training events and meetings.
We also need Volunteer Receptionists and Administrators
We are looking to expand our team of Volunteer Receptionists. Ideally, you will have had previous experience in a Receptionist role and be confident in dealing with members of the public face to face. The role involves greeting all visitors as they arrive at the Bureau, issuing ticket numbers and directing people to the right place. If you feel you can deal with this challenging role, we would like to hear from you.
Administrators provide a key role in the smooth running of the office, and we would be pleased to hear from you if you feel you could spare us a few hours each week. Tasks would include things such as filing, photocopying, computer data entry, and anything else office related.
